That is quite an understatement. Jim VERY generously gave rides in the Aerostar Jet to EVERYBODY in attendance the Aerostar Owners Association meeting that wanted to go. Thanks Jim! Glenn P.S. I'm almost caught up with work, I'll try to post some pictures this weekend.

Thanks for the kind words Glenn. The owners took up a collection and insisted on paying for the fuel so all I had to do was fly the plane.

Sounds like I missed a great event (the discussions on AOA are very interesting).
Jim,
Did you ever get the additional fuel storage we discussed when I was there in March?
Tim Hi Tim, We are currently at 265 gal usable and the next step is getting up to 310. Probably won't happen for a little while. Jim

What happened to the Aerostar with the jet engines on the fuselage? I remember seeing a picture of it once, looked like it was a jet from the start. Go up.......and watch the video

I think Perrin is talking about the original Ted Smith Aerostar Jet. I think Ted had that in mind when he first designed the Aerostar.

They also need to add a lot of structure to the tail section to handle the stress. To hang the engines from the wing required covering over where the normal piston engine is, and creating new fuel tanks in that area; that was it.
Basically, it comes down to money....
Tim Speed costs money. How fast do you want to go?

He also had a single engine tuboprop design in 1970. Jim Christy Wow, that Ted Smith was a visionary guy. Do you have any drawings of his concept of the single engine turbine design?

Jim Christy Interesting that a Wankel engine was a thought at the time. This thing would have sold on the looks alone, some third-world dictator would have probably ordered a bunch with hard-points.
