When the first 15s were entering service they were trying it against all sorts of adversaries. I heard of a conversation over the tactical freq between an F-4 pilot flying bogey profiles against a 15 that went something like this:

Controller: "Bogey 123 you've flown one head on intercept to engagement and two stern quarter engagements, what would you like to do next?"

F-4 pilot: "I'd like to call bingo and go home".

This is one of my two sons firing a missile at Eglin. Don't know what kind of missile or which son. Forgot. Just a good picture that's hanging on my wall.

That's an AIM-120 AMRAAM.

Thought that might be it due to its length but didn't want to embarrass myself by guessing wrong. Now for the $64 question, which son? :D

Another good F-15 picture. Wish I could have flown it! Youngest son is 2. On TDY from Eglin to Alaska.

Stephen, what squadron is/was your son in at Eglin? I was in the 60th TFS Fightin' Crows from '82 to '84.

They both were Crows. One after the other, not at the same time. 3 years difference in age. Great squadron. Really enjoyed the guys there when I visited. Made me jealous!

One's at Fighter Lead In now and the other is flying F-22's at Elmendorf. Bulldogs there. The squadron was decommissioned a few years back, with the reduction in the F-15 force.
