My partner hit vortices going into John Wayne on final behind an airliner in his Saratoga. He was momentarily inverted....and lived to tell about it. Let's just say I'm a bit above the glideslope landing there these days...

Sorry for a slight hijack, but this comment reminded me of a night many years back at NAS Miramar. A flight of four F-8's scheduled for night FCLP, but the temp and dewpoint were equal so we were expecting the fog to roll in any time. After 30 min or so with no action, we manned up and went to the hold short line. It was dead calm and clear. I was first off and the rest of the flight said that I left a contrail going down the runway. I barely got back around on the GCA before the field went below minimums. Apparently a little mixing and particulates was enough to start the fog forming.

Who says nobody ever does anything about the weather.
