M20J 300 Missile in snail mode.

19 [statute] mpg at 186 [statute] mph. Hell of a snail you got there.

I understand that Mooneys come with a free shoe horn to get into one. ;)

The "long cabin" models (e.g. M20J) were fairly roomy and the earlier short cabin ones were OK for "normal size" people in the front seats but the rear seats were designed for passengers without legs.

What’s all this interest in “efficiency”?

Don’t we all want to use up the stockpile of 100LL so we can all start using G100UL?

Pretty efficient but what's with the oil pressure?

I'd guess that's the original 201 analog oil pressure gauge and the IO-550 Missile engine runs at lower pressure? Continental seem to suggest 30-60psi for normal operation. That does make me curious as to whether the OEM oil gauge should be replaced as part of the conversion.

There was a required placard as part of the STC that says the oil pressure should be 30 to 60 psi. But it appears yours is missing.

I’m no where near the speeds you guys get, but I’m
sure comfy.. 154 KTAS on 11.8 in my C182Q doesn’t break my heart.

That’s an exceptional 182. You must have a Horton bonus kit installed and it’s rigged really good.

Thanks.. I'm lucky to have it, it’s a great bird.

The rigging is great; in addition I’ve done a Texas Skyways O-470TS (252hp); along with every Knots2U speed mod. It also has PowerFlow exhaust. I flight plan for 155KTAS and it seems to hang pretty close to it. Eventually I’m thinking about a 2-blade MT prop, that might improve things even further.

I don’t think I’m supposed to participate in this thread. But hey nobody stays home when I go places.

This thread is just baiting the Mooney owners. And maybe a DA42-VI owner if we have any in the house.

You mean like 179 KTAS on 10.1 GPH at 17,000???? :D :D
