I'm not sure where I saw that (not their website), I thought it was in the thread but now I can't find it. I thought the range at high speed cruise was under 1,100nm, but maybe I have that wrong. The press release page claims "the M700 FURY boasts a maximum cruise speed of 301 ktas with a max range of 1,149 nm / 1,849 km (at max cruise speed, 1,424 nm at normal cruise speed)".
A pretty wide spread: Max speed range: 1,149 nm Normal cruise range: 1,424 nm (24% more range than max speed) Max range: 1,852 nm (30% more range than normal cruise, 61% more than max speed)
It'd be nice if they consolidated the specs into one document.

Thanks, that was it. They do make you hunt for it. Since a Bonanza could outrun it at max range I don't think that's a real number unless you're trying to build hours for the insurance bill.
So there's a 61% gap - vs a 5% on the Conquest and 10% on the King Air.
That was my confusion - 61% vs 5% - not sure what physics are at play there.
By the way I love the DA42 visibility. Amazing airplane.

I think what's getting confused is the Max Range number, Piper listed it out in NM and then followed by KM(1,849). Not 1,849NM.

I did 6 hours in the back of a PC-12NG and it was miserable. I’ve done 5 hours in my ‘76 A36 Bonanza many times and I’ve done 6+ once (with 80 gallon tanks if you get your fuel burn around 10 - 11 GPH it is doable - I needed 67 gallons to refuel so had 13 remaining - all in the left tank on a VFR day). I did have my interior redone in 2003 by a SoCal shop that used new modern foams and restyled the seats a bit. They are now much more comfortable than the original Beech seats. I have lower back pain at times and in these I can literally sit comfortably for hours. I’ve also flown from Marion County, FL (just north of Tampa) to Santa Maria, CA (on the coast NW of Santa Barbara) in a single day. Multiple fuel stops of course, but certainly more than 12 hours spent in the cockpit that day. With supplemental O2 and comfortable seats you’d be amazed at how fresh you can feel. I did have a cup of coffee with me for the third leg but I felt good…. If the Pilatus isn’t that comfortable they probably need to reupholster the seats.

It certainly wasn’t seat comfort that was the problem.
It’s all me. Too many years and too many dirtbikes!

I usually give pax a choice between non-stop and a stop on long trips. Even that we will stop somewhere with food to make it seem fun. I have never had a single passenger request a stop. About the same likelihood of someone looking for a flight with a connection over non-stop on a commercial flight. Prob depends on who you fly, some may be more interested in a stop than others, just haven’t met one yet. Range is King in an airplane. For capability, for safety (avoiding weather and another take off landing for the fuel stop), and for fatigue. As a pilot there is almost no fatigue for me monitoring the AP and systems in completely controlled class A airspace. Descent, terminal, approach, parking, fuel, preflight, takeoff, terminal climb, weather, traffic, a half dozen freq changes is work, and work fatigues. Preflight is so much easier. What is take off weather, destination weather. Done. Weather in route, I won’t go as far as to say doesn’t matter, but outside of convection, which you can avoid with flight planning, and use of onboard weather, there is not much weather in the high twenties to worry about.

I’ve done some long flights in my KA, I don’t think I’d be doing as many if I didn’t have one. Don’t know about the fancy ones, but Meridian SN 81 does. Much easier to use relief bags.

I’ve done some long flights in my KA, I don’t think I’d be doing as many if I didn’t have one. I think all PA46’s have one, but a cleaner option is the Travel John brand chemical packets. Absorbs, no mess, not smell, just throw away. Comes in pink for the gals, but turns out it is identical. I like the green ones that have a sealable bag and are opaque, so less obvious what you are carrying out of the plane. Attachment: IMG_2993.jpeg
