Well, guess I’ll be posting more here now. Moved from the wonderful Duke “SUV” to the Mooney M20J “sports car”! Making gas now vs burning the hell out of it!

Jim, that’s a perfect plane to own in retirement. Fast, fun to fly and very efficient. Nothing but good memories when I used to rent Mooney 201’s and 231’s at Van Nuys back in the day. Have a blast and safe flying in your new ride.

Love the paint. The scheme really complements the lines on the Mooney. Congrats on the new ride.

Beautiful. Mooneys are great flying airplanes - enjoy those pushrods.

Thanks all! Not gonna lie, I miss the 20k foot, “over the weather”, cruise on x-country trips. Now we just pick and choose the travel day….. don’t “have” to be anywhere very often anymore! Retirement is great!

Great looking J Jim! I spent many many hours instructing in Mooneys. I’m in the flying SUV phase of life right now but but I’ll probably own one again one day. Enjoy!

That looks like a well-loved and upgraded bird. I’m sure there will be days when you miss the creature comforts of the Duke, but it won’t be when you are at the gas pump or the maintenance hangar!

Love to see the interior.
For overall total cost of getting around it has to be hard to beat a J.

Gorgeous Mooney - I miss my old C model. Should've kept it as a sister to my B55. Enjoy!

Good looking bird. Looks like it is doing 180 sitting still, although the tail looks like 180 going backwards ;-)

Good question. I don't know. It is awful low to the ground. I recon a very well manicured and smooth one might be ok. The previous owner in 30+ years rarely used grass if at all.

I probably won’t either. Every where I go has pavement.

I’ll post some later. Interior is in great shape…. But tired with some yellowing plastic. I’d like to spruce it up sometime; like I did on the Duke. I really enjoyed that one.

Always like to have nice stuff you know…. :woot:
