Just a thought...look up the seller id see if there is an N# and check FAA to see if there's a match?

One thing that might work for most transactions on BT: Many BT'ers know at least a few other BT'ers. Try asking the other party for "references" if you have suspicions.

I just got one from Zion Frazer, no posts, joined last night around 2300 and sent me a message at 2341 telling me to email loebg@att.net. Said it was a guy in Minot,ND that sold transponders.

I told him to send pics.

If it smells like sh!t and looks like sh!t, it might as well be sh!t.

Ditto on most of the above. I got scammed in February on a sidewinder.
Learned that Zelle provided no recourse. In future, if someone is unwilling to accept PayPal I would walk away.
That being said, I have had many good experiences buying parts from other members.

When Im forced to use PayPal, I only use it to process my credit card. I don't have an "account" that I fund with real money. And if you even mention that your bank or CC company has opened an investigation, all PP bets are off; end of their involvement. They immediately disavow any responsibility.

Ive witnessed too many friends whose PayPal accounts were hacked or ripped off with no recourse.

My credit card is seriously old, and has built in buyer protection features that I rely on. :)

This is exactly what I do and it totally, I mean Kevin totally saved me, from spending 12,500.
I typically throw out Kevin O’s name and see what response I get. In my last instance Kevin verified the seller for me … but as it turned out, real BT member but the members account had been hacked.

Wish I could like this - people have no idea how easy PayPal makes stealing from sellers.

I posted a WTB request. Contacted via PM by a Phillip Huggins ( who joined last month with zero posts) with an A36 and no address listed. He sent me his uncles gmail email who is in the Seattle area that had the part I was looking for.. contacted that person … who was selling for a friend. Who wanted me to send money to another person in a different state__Ohio. And that person’s banking info has him living in an Apartment..

The only Phillip Huggins in the FAA airmen database base got his PPL in 1976, and his last medical in 1977…so doubt that dude is still current and flying. And when I sent Phillip a PM back asking for his phone number…radio silence.

So yes…the scammers are still trolling our forums is my guess.
