I was having a blast with the new Jetprop until today. On a hunch, I had a borescope done on the engine to ensure all was well. Unfortunately the news was bad. FOD after only 45 hours! I'm hoping the damage can be blended and should know more tomorrow.

The only downside of the turbines as far as I can tell.

FOD should be covered by insurance.

Thanks for the responses.

I don’t use reverse at my home field. I try not to engage it unless really needed elsewhere.

I will look into the insurance component once I know more tomorrow.

If that was a Citation fan or impeller, it would be nothing to blend that. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Blending is just smoothing the edges or does blending also mean adding material?

Fixed or rather blended today. Not a big deal, but certainly not cheap! What is in this game?

You can’t add material, it’s just smoothing like a propeller to remove edges that can concentrate forces and start cracks.

So would you remove some material from the blade 180 degrees away for balance?

From the PT6A maint manual: Blending to maximum permissible depth may result in compressor unbalance. If the amount of material removed exceeds 50% of the recommended limit, the diametrically opposite blade should be blended to the same dimension

I would have died laughing if Mike C made that comment BUT he isn’t that direct even if it is that true.
