Yes, I know there is a supercub site. As is sometimes the case here, "newcomers asking questions" are often not appreciated.....

So, since I've been on BT for more years than I care to admit...anyone on here have experience with these?

I know that things with brand names are a lot easier to insure right now than things without... One offs are a btcih in that regard.

I went to Miles City several times and saw several of Wayne's SQ-2 builds. You should get the one with Nitrous.

I would say it depends on what you want.

If you want a supercub that is like new, the Javron is true to the original and it IS new.

If you want the latest and greatest that still LOOKS like a cub then the SQ2

Personally I'd do the former.

You've shopped Super Cubs before, so you know that it's REALLY hard to tell the good ones from the OK ones, though the price difference between good and OK might be $30k. They've all been rode hard -- it's tough to tell which ones have been put up wet. And then there's the issue of all those "Alaska mods." It's just tough shopping.

The Javrons and SQ's are all nearly new, and most have been babied. If I were asking myself this question, I'd come down squarely on a Javron, if only because of the universally available parts. Good luck finding one, though.

Cubcrafters?

I was impressed when I toured the facility 10 years ago.

Yeah. Shopping is difficult. Stuart said it....hard to tell the difference between a good one and a so-so one.

I got a line on a good SQ-2. Had a good tube/fabric guy look it over, said it was well-built.

the Husky comes back into consideration, as well............

and then, some people bring in "other" planes....

Stan: Good to see you on the forum; for sure I thought you would be down in Brazil fighting fires.
How about this for "other" Cubs: There is a super clean Clip-Wing cub for sale right now on Barnstormers, under the PA-18 section. 160Hp Lyc., Cub fuselage, Tri-Pacer wings. A great hybrid that will let you do acro, yet get you into places like Soldier Bar, ID without breaking sweat. That mod originated in Lubbock, Texas, prolly not far from your original stomping grounds.
I spoke to the gentleman that owns it. At 84, his girlfriend is bugging him for a side-by-side.
He flew it to Oregon at 14,500 when he bought it.... Just a great inspiration to me.
If I weren't in the market for a Pitts to replace my S2A, I would give this a real serious look.
Best regards,

Tom

Hey, at least I'm not doing something useless like the other fire pilots...ordering junk off Amazon.

I'm being constructive, doing something useful......shopping for a plane......
