Does the supplier pump directly into the truck? Who is the supplier? Jet-a or 100LL?

Large Tanker fills it when making its rounds of the airports in the area. They will not come out just to give us 1,000 gallons, but if they have deliveries totaling around 6,000 gallons or so they will top us off.
Bob What company do you use?

I’m thinking more of jet-a and a 2000 gallon truck. I remember us paying $1.75 a gallon about 3 years ago.

Quote: For 100LL, you need a truck that was used for gasoline. Harder to find. All the trucks are basically the same, the only difference between a Jet and Av trucks is the filter micron requirement (1 for Jet, 5 for Av) and the nozzle You don’t need underwing (single point) for Av. With my trucks (I have 7) the little ones often get switched from one fuel type to another as the season dictates. A product swap is nothing more than a flush and filter, placard change. I use 1 micron (Jet filter) for both products for simplicity. When buying a truck make sure it has as aluminum, stainless, or epoxy lined steel tank. Rust is not your friend. Don’t forget the additional cost of pollution insurance in case of a spill, it can be quite expensive. For 5 million mine is around 40k/yr for 300k of storage. Unless you use a lot of fuel you are probably better off sitting down with your local vendor and negotiating a price. Pre-paying for a chunk of fuel up front will often get you better prices. I have a few customers that will pay 25-50k up front when they have a big demand coming up, in return they get a good rate. Works for both of us.

6000 is a typical "transport" load.

One problem is that with fuel prices fluctuating, you can get stuck with a tank full of fuel at the highest price. At my home airport N72 we have a 4,000 gallon fuel farm, but not that many people use much fuel there. Right now it is $5.35 a gallon, which is not so bad, but when you could get it at other local, larger airports for $4.10, our sales went down that much more and by the time we were low enough to get more, the price had gone back up again.
