So with the possible upgrades to be announced by Pilatus in response to the Denali.
What do you think those will be?

Over 300kt cruise?
Newer Apex avionics?
Better fuel burn?

Denali does not exist. The next quarters projections could change and the project be scrapped all together. Why would the creator of this SETP market niche blink before the competition actually shows up?

Quoted under pic
"Pilatus chairman Oscar Schwenk says Pilatus is looking at enhancing PC-12s for next year."

I could of sworn I saw an article where they talked about it a little more but now i cant find it so we shall see.

Not much missing really, other than ADSB in. I don't really care about FADEC, engine management is pretty simple, you'd have to be an idiot really to screw it up. My only other complaint would be faster boot up.

The only two things that can really be done is to make it faster and hold more. From what Textron has released the speeds will be pretty close. There isn't a whole ton that is separating this Denali from the NG. One area the NG is better is the bathroom set up. The Denali put it in the back and it chews up baggage space, the NG bathroom is genius.

I'd like to see a Garmin panel in it.

I just want more speed from the PC12. Everything else about the plane is perfect IMO.

I like the Apex. Pilatus will never move away from Honeywell. They don't need to. It works great. Honeywell could easily knock off all the coolest features of the Garmin at this point for a new PC12.

IMO most of the Garmin features in new are just whiz bang stuff anyways. The only thing left to invent is a "land" button.

I've watched a few of the Honeywell videos, and the apex system still looks pretty intuitive.
I'm not sure if it's even possible but can you imagine TBM speeds out of a PC-12? I think 300kts would still sell a lot of planes.

Oh yeah..... 300 knots would do it. It would keep me from buying the jet I've been saying I'm gonna buy for the last few years. :D

I believe Pilatus knows how to get it done.

I would be interested to see what a less de-rated Pilates would do. At altitude I still have a good margin between indicated airspeed and the moving VNE so structurally it shouldn’t take much.

To go from 275kts to 300kts is gonna take how much extra power? Reverse engineer from there and you'll probably find there isn't a PT6 that has that power at this stage (but I could be wrong).

Let's do the experiment. The PC12 has a thermodynamic rating of 1750shp, flat rated to 1200shp. Gleaned from the web: a doubling of power would increase the speed with 1.2-1.3x. Fuzzy mathematics for an 1.1x increase in speed would then mean about a 700-1000hp increase. I don't think there is a PT6 with a thermodynamic rating of 2500-2700shp. So I think it's highly unlikely that will happen without major airframe re-designing.

If a pc12 ran around at 280kts like the ads say, 300 seems possible. I have yet to be in a pc12 that was consistently that fast.

I love the Pilates. It’s awesome. But taking it to 300kts is a stretch.

Why should airframe mods be out of the question? They've been selling the same airframe since 1994 and it wasn't designed to be what it has become anyways. I fully expect and airframe modification especially since the supposed competition (Denali) is a clean sheet design that perhaps could doo 300+ out of the box. It's time.

The Pilatus should be what the P180 was intended to be. Fast and efficient.
