Dave,

I apologize, I'm 6 months late to the thread, but I wanted to congratulate you on one really nice 182. I hope she gives you all the utility, comfort, and adventure that you and your family can handle for many years to come

Thanks, Matt.
Stick around as this thread keeps on going with some great info from others!

He would like to buy a 180 rear bench if anyone has one for sale and the brackets that mount on the side walls and lock in the back of the seat.

I think I still have my old bench seat. Not sure about any hardware. I think it’s in Boise. As I have a 61 182D, it should fit nicely.

Mike,

I'll see Wayne this afternoon and relay the info. Thanks.

I'd rather he have it than trip over it for another 20 years.

If both of you fly over and pick it up... plus spend a couple lazy mornings flying the backcountry with us, I'll give it to you.

Karen and I are absolutely coming your way this summer.

I'll tell Wayne about your generous offer today.

Today was the first time I had the 182 at full gross with all the seats filled and it was gusty with cross winds no matter where we went. Dave

Dave,

Absolutely true and no reason to be bugged. 2 in the back seat makes my 182M land completely differently, no need for trim much if at all. Even more so if you are a little low on fuel at the same time.

In the very first post of this thread I mentioned the reason why I bought the 182 was mainly so that the wife and I and our two dogs could fly to a second home somewhere in Arizona. Well, last week we entered into escrow on a nice place in Lake Havasu City Arizona right near the airport. We've been shopping for a house there since October of last year and the wife and I really liked this one so we made an offer on it and the sellers accepted after several counter offers. If all goes as planned we'll close escrow on May 15th. :cross: The house was built in 2016 and has a large RV garage.

Here's the Zillow add for the home: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1768 ... 4070_zpid/

Awesome Dave. Looks perfect. Room to build an RV in that garage!

Very cool, Dave. And nice looking place! Congrats!

We flew into KHII a few years back as we left California; of course, we had to see the London Bridge...

Update:
I got a text from the seller on Friday and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I knew that if I sat quietly on the side line they were going to come back on an offer for some of the furnishings when it came time to empty the house. They have offered me to leave the following: Refrigerator, washer & dryer, chest freezer in the garage, all shelving in the garage, fire pit, all patio furniture, a dozen stacking patio chairs, and the BBQ for $2K. I took it and mailed him a check yesterday. All of this stuff is only three years old and was bought new when they moved into the house in 2016. I figured it would cost me $6K to replicate the stuff.

In the mean time I removed my 46" HD TV from my work shop here at home to install in the master bedroom but I still need a TV for the living room. Any input on some awesome deals on a large smart TV and I'm all ears. We close escrow on May 15th and were going out there on the 16th for four days to get everything set up. I'm open for pointers on a good TV for the living room. My head is spinning... :hide:

Re: TV.

BIGGER.

Always bigger.

75-inch is not expensive these days. Mid- level is plenty good enough.

Thanks. That's what I discovered after doing some research online last night. I think a 75" will work out about right but I need to do some measuring before I commit to that.

I'm a Samsung fan, 4 of them form 28" to 58". I had a glitch with a 43 inch smart TV when it was just out of warranty, but google and the parts are available( shipping breaks a lot of screens leaving available cheap parts), and once you take the back off, it is all Circuit boards that plug in, easy fix.

They may all be about the same, I have only messed with the Samsungs though.

Just when you thought this thread was dead, I have another dumb question for the BT experts here.

When I purchased my 182 it came with a very nice external cockpit cover that covers all of the windows as well as cowl plugs and pitot cover. The only problem I have with the external window cover is that they have a tendency to collect dirt under them and scratch the windows if there is any wind. I'm looking for a good source for those "aluminized" type interior sun shades to block the sun and heat when tied down outside. I found some from Kennon for $225 but am wondering which ones are the best. ?? Any input would be greatly appreciated. ;)
