Here's a Challenger from PDK to TEB this morning.

Only 17 minutes under 8K, not the 30-40 minutes you claimed.

Mike C.

8K' is good? You're trying to change the subject.

It's obvious this Challengers altitude has noting to do with speed and everything to do with keeping him out of the way of JFK traffic.

Because the PC12 is so slow. I know a few guys that went from PC12 to TBM.

No you don't.

It was your subject:

Quote:
ATC will have Jets and Turbo props below 8k' with 30-40 minutes of the flight remaining.

Maybe you experience 30-40 minutes at 8K, but jets don't.

6 planes have flown KPDK to KTEB as listed by Flightaware, 5 jets and 1 turboprop.

The 5 jets averaged 1:35 flight time, the turboprop (a King Air 350, Wheels Up) 2:19. A PC-12 would have been ~2:35.

That's substantially faster for the jets because the cruise part is much faster and they go up faster and go down later, even in a seemingly worst case situation going from ATL to JFK metro areas.

Specifically, the jets are getting JAIKE3, which keeps them above and faster than the turboprops. JAIKE3 isn't available for the turboprops.

It might comfort you to think your turboprop is getting routings similar to jets, but it isn't true. The ATC system around major metro areas is layered to keep traffic segregated, jets higher, turboprops middle, pistons lower. Makes the system work.

When are you gonna buy an airplane?

Bought one already, will buy several more this year... just not with my money!

I'd like to buy an R44... that's my big dream for now.

I'm not on your level, nor do I pretend to be. I don't think my clients would be impressed if I made enough money doing acquisitions to buy a jet!

Did we ever decide who won this stalemate?

:duck:

Sorry... BT has been too quiet lately!

(I'm traveling tomorrow and will have a lot of airport time to catch up on my Beechtalk reading!)

I think Jason has decided on a King Air 350. He shelled out the $600K for the cargo door but opted to keep the PL21 system. Said he finally come to the conclusion a twin was safer.

$600K goes a long way towards a used Phenom 300. :D
