What's IS&S? Never seen that system before.

They supply the avionics for Eclipse.

Wow, that's impressive. That will give some new life into the Legacy PC12s.

I couldn't really tell from the video if the auto-throttle would set cruise power based on altitude and temp, but if it does that, I want one!

damn.........

two things I know

thank goodness I bought an NG, that legacy view/interface is overly button complex

.....if you are selling an autothrottle system, get a better logo, that one sucks!

That's actually not a legacy view, it's IS&S latest and the greatest retrofit. Do you really think you'd be moving around quicker in Apex going missed and into another approach, one after another, after another. I find this display refreshingly clean, with single level menus and no stupid trackball. Granted, my experience with Apex is limited to right seat duties on about 20 flights, but it always seemed so complex. This on the other hand makes perfect sense to anyone used to a proper FMS. I really like the vertical profile display. Now if they only added another servo for the automatic manual override in case fuel control unit failure, they might just create the safest TP ever.

Yes I would in the Apex.....it's better than anything else in this type of application

Sorry, I agree, like I said, it was a retrofit, their latest retrofit for 45 and 47s with Apex. I meant not a legacy display, legacy bird.

I haven't seen the latest software builds for a few years, I just remember it being clunky when I played with it in 2009-2010 timeframe. Glad to hear things are moving forward. Would love to play around with it, but I'm retired now, so I slum around in a SR22.

Rick, you need to use the trackball from the left seat, I don't like it from the right seat either. In adddition, they have made a lot of improvements to the apex software from the early releases.

The apex has a pretty simple menu design. My only complaint on the trackball is that it won't scroll across the 4 screens. You have to push the right button on the CCD to move the cursor to a different screen.

I agree with you there. The apex doesn't display charts well, the vertical display allows for the whole chart to be displayed without scrolling or going into a split view.

All the swich layout in the legacy is interesting, didn't seem like much thought went into that. I believe that was one of the best improvements to the clockpit when the NG came out.

Autothrottles would be nice in the NG but then that wouldn't leave much for the pilot to do. I found this article this morning, it appears the system provides low speed protection even when the system isn't engaged. That would be a nice safety enhancement.

Nobody goes "missed" in a Pilatus. You just land.

Honeywell has upgraded Apex to the point I love it. It's not like it was even 2 years ago.

There are a lot of difference between a 45 and an NG that have nothing to do with avionics.

This is a true story. We have both. Its night and day. Everything from control feel to pressurization is better in the NG.

I wonder who would think about installing this avionics after the fiasco with the Eclipse.

So your saying you would bust minimums in your Pilatus?

If you fly frequently in IFR conditions, eventually you will encounter weather to go missed.

I couldn't agree more. My favorite avionics suite, bar none.
