What does something cost new when it is no longer being manufactured?

Bombardier does not make them anymore. Only the Lear 70 and 75 are on their website - http://businessaircraft.bombardier.com/en/aircraft/learjet.html

They just quit making them in 2011 so it's not like were talking about a 40 year old twin turboprop.

All the ones listed on Controller have remarkably lower asking prices than the $13MM new price tag I found. Not sure what they really sold for new. Was $13MM list price but they really let them go for $10MM?

Regardless, that's a huge price drop in a very short period of time.

I researched Lear 60's a while back and some of the folks I talked to had a crew that managed it for them. That blew it for me. How many owner operators are there of the Lear 60?

we bought our 60 new from the factory, serial #272. I want to say it was around 2004-2005 time frame. It was a factory spec. white tail with apu. back then it was a about a $10m., slightly under I think. Maybe the last year or two of production with PL-21 was over $12.

It's an airplane I lust to fly again. A crew with a couple pax in the back that don't mind being put back in their seats, and ATC that keeps up with the climb will put you in RVSM airspace in about 7 minutes, leveling at 410 in under 15 minutes.

3rd hour fuel burn with those pratts was impressive. as the airplane lightened up, the thrust levers keep coming aft to fuel burns not far different than the 31/35. The airplane loves the high 30's. It will fly in the 40's, but starts to run out of wing at 410. It's a mystery to me how to use FL510. I saw it once in the 31a. Not impressed.

Pair of challenger 300's. The 60 was the interim while we waited for the first 300 that we took delivery of in early 07

Do any of you Lear 60 drivers have approximate D.O.C.'s?

A pair of 300's is a good day. Hopefully they're owner operated once in awhile. I know, you love the turbine Duke. but the 300 is also a great bird. A pair, even better! : )

The 300's are very versatile airplanes. Yes, occasionally owner flown. However best left to pilots that train and fly them routinely. One thing that needs to be understood about jets is having access to Maint personnel. These things require constant attention, not nessarily broke issues, but operational requirements. if you're not based where maint can be done, you better budget and hire your own maint techs. Otherwise you're pretty jet will just be a conversation piece.
