Well, another great visit and a lot of stuff done moving forward. I'm headed home today and the plane is about ready to be sent off to paint. We added an external fuel fill for my aux tank. Extended the door gaps for a proper pressure seal. Began setup of the engine. Finished install of de-ice heaters. Finalized interior colors and details, including the panel layout. There's more but I'll let the pictures do the talking. If you have any questions just ask. And where is it, the filler location looks to go into the pressure vessel? Ferry pilots talk of having bladder tanks inside where cabin pressure squeezes out the fuel, no pumps to fail, which is certainly elegant but I'd worry about leaks and fumes in the cabin.

The aux tank is a 30 gal all carbon fiber construction with no bladder. I do believe it is in the pressure vessel but not inside the finished cabin.

Here is his log of building it. Not sure if it's the same one I originally read a few years ago, but if it is it tells of modifications and things he did to make it faster. http://www.x-plane.com/hardware/evo/evo.htmlYeah, I read Austin's posts on this. He sort of inspired me on how I wanted to build my plane. Keep it light as possible and fast. Only without skimping on the basic creature comforts.

It gives you a very good de-ice system with no speed penalty. I'm installing the Garmin G3X system. It's the new and improved version of the 900x with touch screens. One of the major benefits is that the G3X system will save me close to 60 lbs over the G900X system! Yes, 60 lbs!

Do you have any pictures, or description, of how fuel fittings are integrated into the carbon fuel tanks?
Also,
Have they explained why they choose to drill and rivet nutplates to the structure vs. ClickBond nutplates that are attached with epoxy? I suspect it's a cost thing as ClickBonds can be rather pricey.
Thanks for the info, Phil I believe the fittings are attached with hysol and then bids of carbon are used to strengthen that bond. I can't say 100% for sure, but that's how I understand it. I'm not sure about the rivets vs clickbond nutplates. It wasn't something I asked about.

Thanks! Yeah the guys at RDD believe that I should have close to the 2nd fastest Evo out there. They feel that with some of the attention to detail that I've done that my plane could be lighter than some -135 planes. Other than the panel weight savings some of the other things we have done is shave weight by getting lighter carpet and other materials. So for example the carpet we are using is 5oz per square foot vs 12oz carpet that most people are using. Dekka batteries save a lot of weight as well. There are other little things being done but I cannot remember them all at this time, lol.

Yes, by far from what I've heard.
