And then you add the folding leg Cessna landing gear which isn't the most reliable. And then you add a rear engine which can suffer cooling problems (it depends on the prop wash from the front engine to cool it while on the ground). For the same money and less aggravation, buy a 310 or a Baron. They will run circles around a Skymasher. Mike C.

Are they maintenance pigs? Do they fly LOP? I can't speak to the Skyrocket but I have a regular P337. I haven't had any particular maintenance issues that would be specific to the airframe and my P337 is in annual now so I can provide more data soon on maintenance expenses. Contrary to what others have said, the P337 is not noisy at all. I can hardly hear the rear engine start and that's without headsets on. Possibly non "P" models are louder. The P is also a five place airplane as it doesn't have a second exit so cannot be certified as a six place airplane. Luggage goes where the sixth seat would be. Look for other threads here that I have replied to but I get in the low 182 KTAS on 10.6 GPH per engine LOP at 65% power. ROP or higher power settings give faster TAS, of course. Pressurization is wonderful !

I had a P337 for three years. Maintenance wasn't an issue any more than it would be for any other pressurized twin. The rear engine is easier to work on than the front one actually, because there is a removable panel in the rear cabin bulkhead allowing access to the mags and alternator. The biggest issue I had was lack of cabin load with full fuel (148 gallons), only 400lbs for my plane which had air conditioning, intercoolers and full deice. No 337 is FIKI BTW. Flying LOP was no problem, 184KTAS on 23gph total, ~50LOP. I liked the plane, but a P210 will do the same or better in all respects on 2/3 the $$$, plus the P210 can be FIKI and can fly 3000 ft higher. If you have to have a twin though, the P337 is the best short field P twin, has the best single engine performance of any P twin until you are looking at something like a 421, and it won't bite if you loose an engine, you just have to realize you did loose one, and figure out which one.....I miss that plane in some respects. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.
