Negative... annual was smooth, inexpensive and gas is as cheap as it's been since I've owned her. All good in Baron land :thumbup:

I don't think I've ever seen or heard of a turbo charged engine, that hasn't had work done on either turbos, wastegates or cylinders before TBO. Rarer than hen's teeth... ;)

As someone once said "if your turbo goes beyond 1000hrs, you're riding for free".

And let's not forget why the Jeffs started BT....... Because you couldn't find any damn information on Beechcraft airplanes. Everything before BT was OWT juts like "twins are safer".... OWT passed down by your 100 year old CFI and his 99 year old mechanic brother. :D

For simplicity and performance a 1976-newer B55 with IO-550s is your best plane hands down. It will climb on one engine 500+ FPM at gross and will hold 14k on one engine as well. Simple fuel systems and simple airplane. The 58 has be barn doors, but it truly has no more baggage room and it is heavier in feel and slower, but also a good plane. The 58P is very nice, but much more labor intensive with turbos and pressurization. Not much faster considering the fuel burn, but much more useable since it can get above most weather.

If I had to pick one of them I would pick a Malibu :D er... B55 with 550s.

The E is a good choice also, but I prefer the extra performance and sporty feel of the B series. The extra nose baggage room is not needed since putting 6 in the plane puts you at gross with no weight left for bags and if you have 4 people you remove the rear seats and have more than enough baggage room. The B with the 550s is the best flying twin I have ever flown.

Fly a B with 550s. You will throw rocks at other twins. What would be REALLY nice is a B with 10.5:1 pistons in the 550.

Would you remove the rear seats and move the 2 back seats back further for better CG and more leg room for the passengers?
