New Cirri can see really impressive utilization. They're a favorite of new pilots who are going to be trading it in for a Mustang or Phenom and then flying 200 hrs/yr. Yes What is DH? Yes

Sorry I missed this until today. I assume this plane is a turbo? You don't say but if it's loaded let's assume it is.
If you look at the Controller ads for 2013 models they are all above $750k but have fewer than 300 hours. I'd say those asking prices are optimistic (but I really hope I'm wrong). The loaded turbos sold for about $750-$760k new a year ago. Then Cirrus did everyone a favor and increased the price $40k or so on 2014 models.
My WAG is that the plane you are describing is worth $650-$675k. This is a great way to lose $300k in 5 years. I think the value is in the 2003 loaded planes for $150-190k or a G2 from $175-$225k. Yes, not quite the machine, but not going to lose the price of a home in 5 years. Wait 5 years and buy one for less than 1/2 price or maybe 1/3.

Username Protected wrote: Depends what you want. A large number of new cirrus owners use them as pre-turbine trainers. $300k is 30 or even 3 AMU in that league. I guess I would just go right to the turbine. Train in a Cirrus if you want and get your IR rating and then buy whatever. Losing 300k to fly a clown plane is pretty crazy. You are probably right though - $300k is peanuts to many people.

Some SOB is keeping a mustang busy now and took a year to get his IFR/g1000 skills down pat. Considering what it cost to buy 15,000 gals of avgas, the depreciation is minimal! Yeah, you are probably right. I'm just in a different world. To be honest, I hope I never have enough money that when I throw away $300k I don't care. I don't think that is healthy, but to each their own.

Those 15,000 gallons cost only about 100AMU.. that depreciation hit is a BIG deal in comparison, unless you can bonus depreciate it, and that has already gone away.
