Absolutely brilliant design. Man, I'd love to ride that thing.

My daughter is the lead stress analyst for scaled. Her husband designed and built the landing gear on Spaceship Two, along with the wing hinge assembly. Pretty neat to get to go see this stuff in person.

If you look at the photos from the first powered flight all of them were from my son-in-law. He was in high chase (Proteus) at 50,000 feet. The daughter was in low chase(Extra 300) for the second powered flight.

I love my V35A, but I sure am jealous, and proud of these two. I guess she got her love of aeronautics from me. She has just taken it a lot further than I ever could.

Very cool, Dale. I'm a big VG fan. Actually went to New Mexico to visit Spaceport America about a year ago. Cool place. I hope they start lauching from there soon.

I was under the impression that they use/used a Starship for at least some of the chase plane duties. Is that just folklore?

Tesla and SpaceX are also based in CA. They are pretty cool companies as well.

I know we have a few BTers who have actually been on orbit but I wonder if any BTers have signed on for a Space Ship 2 ride. Seems like we need a BT poll.

On the first powered flight, Proteus was used for high chase. The Starship was used a lot during the development of White Knight Two and glide flights of the Spaceship. They did not use a separate vehicle for high chase on the last two powered flights, they relied on the crew of White Knight Two for this.

My son-in-laws name is Michael Fuchs and you can see some of the things he works on at home on jetaerospace.org. His photography site is michaelfuchsphotography.com.
