Thought it about time to introduce myself.

I have been following BeechTalk for several years now and have picked up a tremendous amount of tips and ideas along the way.

I have owned a 1988 model F33A since 2005 and absolutely love the aircraft. Moved up from a Piper Archer prior to that. I set up a gravel and grass airstrip along with hangar on my little property just outside controlled airspace and love being able to fly from home.
I will attempt adding photos as I know how much you guys like them.

Cheers.

Well, Howdy, Chris, from the Great Republic of Texas. Nice looking Bo.

I note that your (staggeringly beautiful) panel still includes an ADF; everyone here tells me how I must get rid of mine, that it is a boat anchor, wasting panel space. Still, I like having it.

So, do you still have reasonably frequent cause to use your ADF? Many approach procedures which still require the ADF? Around here, NDBs are dropping like flies.

Love reading about flying in Australia (have a sister who lives in SA), hope to do a bit of that soon...

Hi Spike,

Yes, I opted to keep an ADF mainly to tune into radio stations for entertainment on solo flights as we don't have access to the types of things that you folk have.
There is still some NDB approaches around but they are gradually being phased out.

Wow, that is one heck of a nice F33A Chris, like the nice clean panel setup.
Looks like the strip has good approaches and is wide, how long is it?

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

I guess I noticed the recent influx of ozzies also which prompted me to introduce myself.

Greg, the strip is 800 metres fence to fence but you can't see the "arrestor cables" in the form of a power line at the bottom of the photo. It runs parallel to the road but doesn't cause me much problem as I usually have a good breeze coming from that direction. The Bonanza handles the strip very well as long as you stick to your approach speeds and don't come in too fast.

Welcome Mate!

Chris is also a member of a very select bunch, being in the first 10 people to sign up for the APS Downunder courses and the Walter Atkinson Big Rock Tour.

Hey how did you go with the Barefoot Bowls Chris?

Chris is being rather shy, his strip is just west of Rockhampton and not far from the coast, which from the Keppel group to the Whitsunday Group is some of the nicest coast line on the planet.

I will have to find an excuse to drop in there some day :peace:

Chris, welcome, nice 33!
The question is rather why the ADF does not display on the Aspen!
