The Velocity seems to be a great plane - modern design and aerodynamically clean. Why don't we see more flying?

See quite a few around Santa Monica. I think the single best thing that could happen to GA is a much much cheaper high quality turbine. It still amazes all my non-pilot friends how little you get in terms of real travel advantage for hundreds of thousands of dollars. We all love it so the marginal benefits to us are huge, but if a turbine cost 100k, wouldn't there be a lot more air-taxis and charters, and new types of aircraft? They could then compete on price with the commercial airlines and save our smaller airports.

You have to build it yourself, and by the time you build an XL with modern panel and 300 hp, you probably have 300 AMU invested. There are usually a fair number at OSH. There are some performance quirks, too, mostly that the lack of flaps with the canard design tends to make them a bit hot on landing. Cabin's a little low but nice and wide - I have to recline the seat to keep my head off the roof. Good airplanes, though - fast, efficient, virtually impossible to stall, extremely strong structurally. Deltahawk uses a Velocity as test bed for their 200hp diesel. That's a winning combination IMO.

If it is an experimental it probably could be built for $500-$800k and will still be the worst thing they ever did since nobody will spend that kind of money for a plane that will be instantly worth $300k and uninsurable when you want to get rid of it.
I did not see anything about pressurization either.
The project is a non-starter in my opinion.
Buy a used TBM or turbine Duke for that matter. Agreed. If this project ever makes it past a few units built, I'll be impressed. That's just the way G.A. works.

I visited the factory in Sebastian, FL and flew one in a demonstration ride. WOW! That is one sweet flying machine! You can hold the stick all the way back and it just bobs like a porpoise (if you add power, you climb while bobbing, if you reduce power, you descend while bobbing). I guess the only way to stall it, is to take a dive and then pull back very quickly. Also, having the engine behind you, gives a nice quiet, smooth ride. If I had the time and money, this would be my dream plane to build and fly.
