A friend flew in his extra today. I had the pleasure to spend about 60 minutes doing some hard acro. What fun!!!! 5 G turns, Hammerheads, cubans, avalanche's and even a lumcevak or two. Fell out of the first one after two rotations but improved from that point. This is the second time I have flown it and it was more fun that the first. I will have perma grin for a few days..............

Mike,
Congrats. I have not been able to tolerate the aerobatic thing for more than about 10 minutes.....and then I start feeling rather ill.

I had the privilege of riding with Daniel Heligoin (French Connection) back in the 90's as he put his CAP-10 through its paces along New Smyrna Beach. It was great fun, but I didn't get my legs and my stomach back for about 2 hours after we landed.

....hard to believe it will be 10 years in May since he and Montaine died in their training accident.

I'm with Alejandro. As a passenger, I know I would be seeing my previous meal.

I did my CFI spin training in an Extra. It was the most fun I've had with my clothes on :woot:

I managed to keep from turning green. I have many hours in a citabria, Decathlon and a few in a Skybolt. So I am somewhat used to the unusual attitude stuff.

I think the worst I have ever felt was when a friend in a skybolt put me in different spins and I then had to recover. I would close my eyes and he would induce a L or R spin or inverted spin. Once in full spin he would give me the go. I would open my eyes and recover. It was a great learning experience. However after about 8 spins I was GREEN GREEN GREEN. I dont think I quit shaking until I was grounded for atleast an hour......

I am a firm believer unusal attitude training will save your life if you fly long enough.

Wasnt it Bob Hoover on short final in a 310 twin when he was caught in wake turbulence. He ended up inverted but with his unusual attitude experience he firewalled it pushed the yoke to the dash and turned it back over. The wingtip just missed the ground.

I dont know very many folks that capable but if it happended to me on long final I think I could fix it in time.

Same thing happened to a friend of mine in a Caravan, short final at IAH. He had a guy in the back (monitored pipeline instruments) who really, really 'lost it'.

All ended well, due to his aerobatic experience.

We should all really do this.
