This morning I was extremely lucky to get to take a ride in a Ford Tri Motor (1928). Some pictures and videos are here:

It was LOUD and it was amazing how quickly it got off the ground. Very cool experience though.

Very fun. I got to take my dad and daughters with me for a ride this summer. Everyone really enjoyed it. I had my iPhone on foreflight amazing flying around at less then 100 knots.

Sorry photos taken with iPhone so we weren't inverted.

Eric, I thought I heard it flying overhead. That's my hangar neighbor. He has quite a collection of planes. Beautiful day to explore east Texas. Great pictures!

When he got it, I think he phrased flying it as: "Going nowhere, slow, spending lots of dough".

Chris,

Small world! Were you landing yesterday afternoon around 4:45? I had just gotten back from picking up my wife in College Station in the Mooney. I think I saw you land and taxi in.

No, I flew my brother-in-law around in the 150 on Thursday, but I was stuck on the ground yesterday. I live in the neighborhood just north of the airport and it's not hard to recognize the sound of the Tri-Motor when it's overhead - mostly because it seems like it doesn't move. :D

Got to fly in the Tri-motor with my daughter at Oshkosh last year. I took many photos. My wife chose one and had it printed on a three separate canvases for my office, in sepia tone.

That looks amazing, Tony.

I rode the EAA Trimotor when they passed through here a couple of years ago. Like others have said, very slow and ponderous, with amazingly low wing loading: it practically levitates. It's a wonderful noisy old beast too. I loved it!

The tail number of the tri motor in that YouTube video is the same as the one in the photos
