This morning I was extremely lucky to get to take a ride in a Ford Tri Motor (1928). Some pictures and videos are here: https://goo.gl/photos/uX2KTkdaZ3rnebMcAIt was LOUD and it was amazing how quickly it got off the ground. Very cool experience though.

Eric, I thought I heard it flying overhead. That's my hangar neighbor. He has quite a collection of planes. Beautiful day to explore east Texas. Great pictures! When he got it, I think he phrased flying it as: "Going nowhere, slow, spending lots of dough".

Chris,
Small world! Were you landing yesterday afternoon around 4:45? I had just gotten back from picking up my wife in College Station in the Mooney. I think I saw you land and taxi in.

That looks amazing, Tony. I rode the EAA Trimotor when they passed through here a couple of years ago. Like others have said, very slow and ponderous, with amazingly low wing loading: it practically levitates. It's a wonderful noisy old beast too. I loved it!
