The biggest piece of Pilatus is military contracts. Pilatus builds a single turbine military trainer much like one in the AF contract that Beech recently lost. That revenue is critical for stability and funding future projects. http://www.pilatus-aircraft.com/#39View "training systems".

Agreed. looks like a tall oval fuse x-section, too.
Is that a composite fuse?

Is that a composite fuse? Yes. Brought the company to its knees. The concept behind the SpN was that it would be a 'Jet PC12', able to operate off gravel runways, without need for ground services etc.

Well, I am hopeful about the Pilatus effort. If they are indeed taking over the SpN project, I think there is a good chance of them seing it through. Grob had some prototypes flying when they lost one and the company got into trouble. So a lot of the certification work is already done.
Last I heard, they had reorganized their military piston trainer business and I believe they are still building the fuselage tubes for the Lear 85. Aircraft were only a side business for Grob, his core business were assembly lines for the german automotive manufacturers. With the troubles in the world economy at the time, I am not sure it was the Jet alone that caused the company to get in trouble.
