Anyone have an issue with a Bo "sitting down" like this when traveling and your bird is stuck outside in the elements? I have seen tail stands on Caravans and a couple other larger aircraft. Nice to be in a hanger! Hope they don't get damaged if all that ice lets loose at the same time. Attachment: image.jpg

Eeeek! Those photo's are interesting to look at, but they make me cringe. Rob

When the snow starts coming down, it accumulates under the airplane at about the same time as on the airplane. Then the snow starts to accumulate on the v tail. Eventually the tail slowly lowers onto the newly fallen snow. When the snow begins to melt, the tail eventually gets lighter and the nose settles slowly down. If you tie your nose down, you will have a significant amount of snow accumulated on the tail. Snow is water, water is heavy. Tie the nose down and you have what I would assume is the equivalent of 400 or 500 pounds standing on the tail at a moment of over 250! So, would you clean your tail by standing on it? No, I don't think so.
