I suppose I'm saying that if you're going to go the VLJ route, the Embraer seem to be the best product. I've been looking at all of them out here.
Second best would be a used CJ1. Which, is a VLJ at all but can be had a VLJ prices and single pilot certified.
Why do "pretty airplanes" not perform? Now that's not true. I.E.: Bonanza, Lear 35,55 60, P-51,Baron, C310, CJ2, G3-4-5 I can on B200, Model 18, Model 17, 747, 727, F-15, 16 I think that's one from every catogory. Just to name a few

Really for a jet to be even somewhat efficient you need minimum 600 mile legs. And even that is to short really. 1000+ is more like it.
