Welcome Dale,

I've seen that plane. It is a great specimen of an A36. You will enjoy it for sure.

Where do you stop for fuel on the PA/FL trip? Have you ever tried Alma, GA or Hazelhurst, GA??

Howdy Y'all ,
Greetings from Central Texas , also known as the Hill Country to us down here. I'm also new to the site and glad to be onboard. My A-36TC ( N7FG ) is the first and hopefully last as I was forewarned about the "you might as well get a Bonanza first and save all the intermediate steps ( $$$$ )". I started flying years ago in the Air Force flying DC-9's in Airevac and then transitioned to American Airlines back in '78. After 27 years of more and more TSA garbage I did the math and grabbed the lump sum early retirement as quick as I could and never looked back....I was fortunate to "retire " when I did and even though it was "early" (age :54) I haven't missed a it at all ....of course the Bonanza was the perfect cure for the addiction that we pilots suffer from and I just have to say that with a GNS 480 it's just about as close to a 767 as I'll ever get again. I read in another blog/thread here about the issue of flying LOP in turbo Bonanzas and all I can say is that with the factory turbo and balanced injectors that are stock for the TSIO-520 I can pull LOP on climbout with WOT and stay 50-80 degrees LOP all day without a burp....sure makes it nice for those long legs to run at 15-16 gph, not to mention much lower CHTs for climb as well as cruise ...Anyways we have been ranching here where we live for the past 15 years and am interested to hear from the "mates " "down under" and their brand of GA as well...did get to fly down there in my tour w/ AA but always was pretty much in and out of Sydney...would love to see that country via GA. If y'all are ever in my neck of the woods stop at Llano( KAQO) for the barbeque at Cooper's (the restaurant keeps a courtesy van at the airport ) and be prepared for a max gross TO afterwards....

Wonder how it seems the older Bonanza's seem to have those short N numbers, I'm N7BW, he's N7FG, I've seen lots of 3 letter N #'s, sorta weird, I'm off to get a new 430W installed tomorrow morning in NW Pa, it looks like a beautiful day to fly in the NE, (although any day in the air beats workin and the return is in a V35)

Welcome, Don! As a matter of fact, another thread is discussing a Llano BT Bar-B-Q fly out. We'll keep you posted.

Conversely, if you are looking for a fun place to fly that pretty A-36TC on the third Saturday of any given month, head over to KHOU and I'll buy you lunch at the 1940 Air Terminal Museum.

Don, that's a good-looking plane.

I'll wave this morning as I fly from Albuquerque to Louisiana

Hmmm. I'll also be in Kerrville on Thursday (at the shooting range). Always have loved the Hill Country. We have a good friend who bought place near Bandera a couple of years ago, and we visit him from time to time.

Don,

Welcome aboard from a fellow airline retiree.... got our early from United about 4 years ago. However, I miss the flying....just don't miss the BS and TSA. I've actually though about doing more flying commercially, but really don't want an obligation or work more tha 5 days a month (kinda like the good old days<g>).

Great plane, I'm sure you're getting a lot of good trips with it. If you ever wander toward St. Pete, look me up.

Dale,
You can go to the FAA website :
http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry ... quiry.aspx
and find any available number you like and get from the feds...that's what I did ...if you look in your logbooks far enough back you'll probably find that your Bo came out of the factory with a long # like mine did (originally N1827W ).

Larry ,
I'm like you ...every time I think about it I stop and remember what being on call is like and not having a schedule of your own...we had the best of what airline flying was like and it'll never get any better....If you're not the Captain and the owner you go when "they " say to...

Don,

I guess I was fairly fortunate. After a few miserable years on reserve, I stayed senior enough to determine my own schedule and worked quite well, and never flew another holiday. In fact I had a few great years as a senior 747 copilot where I got my choice and had a ton of time off... life was good, then. Even my last years as a 757/767 capt I had a LOT of good schedules, with Europe or domestic without the all nighters. Commuted from FL for the last ~5 years without a hitch.

Now, being Capt of the Baron is better, the only one I have to listen to is the SWMBO copilot...... but she's a great sport, and shares my enthusiasm with the plane.

Jeez, guess I should have searched for this early  I'm just in the process of getting my Canadian ppl which I started in May, and am currently at 22.5 hrs in a 172 which is halfway to the minimum 45. I'm in grade 12 right now and after highschool I plan on becoming a helicopter mechanic here in Canada and then eventually a heli-pilot aswell.

Haven't had to much contact with a beech but am hoping to sooner or later.
Cheers, David

Hey, Ed Bacon got me to this forum after asking him about an audio patch cable I needed to record comms.

A little about me, I'm 17 (so I wont be owning a plane anytime soon ;)), I only just got my license on Sunday, I first flew solo at 16 with 12.3 hours and been flying since I was 15 :). I love to take video/pictures while I'm flying hence needing the patch cable. Here are two of my favorite pics I've taken.

Also, it's my birthday today  Oh and I've been flying the Jabiru 120 LSA

Hi Marcus
Happy Birthday for yesterday I guess, welcome to BT, you should hang around, some great people here who will gladly contribute freely to your flying experience.
Where abouts in Oz are you? What are you flying?
Great to hear of you achieving so much at 17, congratulations!!!!!!
I am in SA, fly a Debonair out of the Adelaide Hills, look forward to seeing some of your video here on BT.
