..cool video..

..cool plane:

100 knots, amphib or land, auto gas or avgas, 300 NM range, Rotax....$139,000.
They say if you order one now, you may expect delivery in 2015.

All this effort for an LSA that is good for nothing? If you're gonna go to all this effort, why not make a legit traveling machine?

True. It's not a Bonanza.

It travels (slowly), can be your seaplane, will travel with its wings folded back and on a trailer. It's light sport, so it's not supposed to take me to California. More of a fly-around-for-fun plane rather than a traveling plane.

They claim to have 500 deposits for orders already, so SOMEBODY likes it...

Three or more years ago they were a lead at OSH, huge tent , great placement. For $100,000 in a risk capitol investment you could own one. It's since gone up :) $5,000 or so got you a position in production.

We will see but it sure was interesting then, very slick designers, very cool look. NOT your father's aircraft. I believe it could be a game changer, enticing youth and even women. Great way to get to the lake house.

i want one, can't afford one now. But I probably will get one eventually to poke around in. The Aerostar is a traveling machine, not a poke around the sky kind of plane and I need (well want) one of those. Preferably a sea plane....

It's innovation. It's something different. I think its really cool.

We need more innovators in GA. We can both give props to Cirrus in the avionics realm--who says these guys can't have success with the A5 and then move up to something bigger and faster?

Ever since seeing the A5 at OSH its first year (2009?), I've said this will be my post-medical airplane.

I wonder if the Chicago Park District would let me park that at one of the harbor spots for a catamaran. I live 2 blocks from the harbor.

sure , Meigs field just a bit closer and east... OR trailer it with folded wings. If you do I might be able to find hangar space here at KUGN for a trade in time.

A couple of things, they call it the first production spin resistance aircraft, Ercoupe beat them by about 60yrs.
Outboard 1/2of wing never stalled, can't really call it a stall if there is not enough up elevator to stall the wing, it's called a mush.
Don't like how much the tail flops around during the "stall". Looks like it's going to come off.
How come full right rudder at the stall does not even turn the aircraft?
Other than that, it is interesting.

I'm waiting untill people get called on their delivery positions and can't find the financing to close it. There's a lot of 100k contracts for earlier deliveries out there.

No need to pay for a place at the end of the line for 140k.

It's a toy. Most boats are too.. :duck:

And it sure beats a Chinese-built C162!

Anybody know the basic rules for operating a seaplane on water? Land anywhere unless prohibited?

Sheldon,

I like plane porn as much as the next guy but you should give a guy a heads up, kind of like X rated movies. Any videos that have the words or video of a float plane, sea plane or amphibian should be duly noted in the thread title. I'm trying to go cold turkey on this sea plane monkey that is on my back.
