I just don't want to be a slave to those guys forever. In a recent article about new models, I read something I had forgoten. New models have incredibly expensive parts. Many parts are unique, many made of composites, most likely made in very low production runs.....and they only have single source availibility for a number of years. It's easy for us Beech owners to forget why buying a legacy model in turbine aircraft can make sense in the long run. New stuff has a hidden price.

The problem with the Eclipse is that they decided to reinvent the wheel for everything, including avionics and the one-of engines. So in addition to being their hostage on the airframe parts, they are also the sole-source provider for everything else.

Quote: You might have also been thinking about the Eclipse Personal jet, the little V-tail debuted @ Osh if I recall. I believe it is a 2 +3 configuration. No I do not recall that one, It was the burgundy coloured Cirrus Jet I saw, like I said maybe it was only set up with 5 at the time, it was a rough jigger too, test bed for sure. Besides the two kiddie seats says it all. It will be a real 5 seat max plane unless they are all skinny size 6 models. I'll fly 6 of them around.........now there was a thread not long back about this

Here's the Eclipse "Concept Jet" at OSH in 2007. Haven't seen it on Flightaware since 2008. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N5184UAttachment: osh_0007s.JPG
