found this Riley Eagle conversion while searching 421's. I think there were 8 of them made. I heard they can do over 300 KTS and 1400 mile range.

One of those 8 -- perhaps it was the 9th -- crashed shortly after takeoff years ago off of KOJC in Olathe, KS. Unfortunately no one survived, and the aircraft took out a house, damaged another, and parts hit several cars.

I don't believe, based on the factual & probable reports from the NTSB, that the mod had anything to do with this accident. It seems like a typical accident from the stand point that 85% of accidents are pilot error. When you overload a plane, add some situational awareness (or perhaps lack thereof), and put the aircraft into a 2400'/min. descent at about 1200' AGL, you are bound for trouble.

It seems that this bird may have been different than the others in that it had Lyc. turbine engines; whereas, the Eagle mod has the Pratts.
