I'm from eastern Iowa, and I'm new to the forum. I'm looking for my first plane, and I sometimes see Bonanzas advertised that look like they would do a good job on my mission, which is IFR cross countries of 600 or 800 NM. A model from the late 1970's or early 80's would be likely.
Can anyone suggest a mechanic for a pre-buy inspection, preferably in Iowa, northern Illinois, or southern Minnesota? All I know so far is that the two nearest authorized service centers are both named Elliott Aviation, one in Des Moines Iowa and the other in Moline Illinois.

Bruce Sauer at Wells Aviation 507.553.3100 (close to Albert Lea, MN) has worked on my airplane for over 20 years (since way before I bought it) and knows the Bo' quite well. Familiar with all the AD's, etc. Nice guy, doesn't overcharge for his time... just don't let him start telling you any stories or you might not make it home in time for dinner!
