Hello Gentlemen, I posted this on the Twin area, but then realized this is the intro thread.

I'm happy to announce I'll be joining your ranks. After drooling over it for years, I just purchased Dick Ward's Twin Bonanza Excalibur 800. I'll be basing it at ENW or UGN.

Looking forward to chatting.

Phil

Hello to All;

My name is Steve Jarrell and I've just purchased a 2008 G36 :woot: . It will be delivered in another week or so, and I'll be sure to post pics at that time! I have been doing my research for well over a year and have watched this board with great interest and have learned a LOT from all of the information posted here.

I am 54 years old and just got into flying a little over a year ago. I started out training in a glass panel 172, then switched over to Jabiru Light Sport (glass panel as well) that I purchased last October. I got my Light Sport certificate as I was trying to get some health issues 100% cleared up (which I did) before I went for my medical. Flying the light sport has given me the opportunity to be flying while I have decided what I want to fly in the future.

I'll be getting my PPL within the next couple of weeks and will start immediately on my Instrument Rating. I decided to go ahead and get the Bo now instead of later as I'm going to have to be spending a lot of time anyway with my CFI getting used to the airplane and while doing my instrument work, so I decided to do it now instead of later. I'll spend as much time with him as necessary until I'm 110% confident that I can fly the Bo safely.

In today's buyer's market I just couldn't see buying a lesser plane, then having to trade up in the next year or two. As many of you have recommended, I went ahead and bought my "second plane first" (we won't count the Jabiru.... :) )

I thoroughly enjoy the learning process and am excited about getting started with the Bonanza. Thanks to all for your posts as they have been very beneficial, and you can be assured that I'll be asking a LOT of beginner questions in the very near future!

Best regards,

Steve Jarrell

Hi Paul,

Yeah, the 4 cylinder Mooney is a great young man's airplane, but not a family airplane, and the bigger engine Mooneys are no better.

IO 720s baby!

Albert,

Great looking Bo.
Did you have the mods and updates done yourself. If so, well done!

Thanks, I got it with the Mods one of which is that they installed a Franklin Engine with a Turbocharger in it. Been trying to find an operating manual mainly for power settings at cruise. So far I have had no luck. I had a Mooney before and needed more room for wife and dogs and also needed more range so I went for tip tanks. Its got plenty of room as far as performance compared to the mooney the jury is still out on that one.

Hello,

My name is Matthew Bush. I'm currently a Student Pilot based out of KSNA. I'm getting my Private Certificate in a Citabria 7ECA. I've got around 65 hours, and I have to one more x-country solo (SNA-SBA-CMA-SNA), and a few more night landings before my checkride. I plan on getting my IR after my private. I love flying, and I am having a great time in the Citabria.

My stepdad was an active pilot for about thirty years and flew a lot of different airplanes with several Beech models included: (A36 with tip tanks, a Baron, and two different King Airs), and he told me that he'd love it if I flew a Bonanza one day. He was a huge fan of the Bonanza's handling characteristics and performance. He was loaded with stories, and I think I got to hear most of the good ones. He unfortunately passed away last month before I got my ticket and was able to take him up.

Admin moved Bonanza-specific questions to Beechcraft Singles forum to make it easier to discuss and follow:

Thank you. This forum is great. It's fun to read a bunch of different accounts. The common thread is that all of you are literally frothing over your planes! That's how it should be.
