I always look at snowboarders and skiiers and say to myself, "Self, I bet those skiiers can bench press more than those snow boarders." God I love this forum. Jason, thanks for lightening this thread up a tad.

Another reason to not like a Cirrus. Who here types the plural for Cirrus and feels comfortable to type on believing that what they have typed is correct? How are we supposed to like their airplanes if we can't even share ideas because the name is so hard to use in a stinkin sentence? Think about it.

I love Cirruses. I love Cirruss, I love Cirrus'. I love Cirrus's. I love Cirreye? No wonder I can't embrace these things. You gotta be able to run the table in Jeopardy in the most stuffy of topics to even comment on the dumb things.

Bryan,

Many Cirrus owners buy the plane as their first.

Many of them have very little experience in flying.

Many of them don't care anything about flying, but consider the Cirrus a "flying car," and they don't get into airport talk, spend time with other pilots, or learn the etiquette of ground operations.

Clearly, some Cirrus pilots are very good, very experienced, and very considerate. It's just that the way the plane were marketed, it attracted a lot of buyers who didn't know anything about flying.

This *may* contribute to the experiences you had.

Wow, Tom, you are so accurate on your assessment. We have 7~8 Cirrus owners on our airport now. Their ops standards are pretty much as you described earlier. Also, I don't know a single one of them. They simply don't "mix" at my airport. Further, I've never seen one make the first turn-off (1,150 feet) and it is very rare to see one make the second (2,300 feet). Just a different kind of pilots flying this brand.

Fellow with a Cirrus was in the hangar across the row... never had too much time to talk. Glad he moved.

A South African with a Rotorway helicopter moved in. (Actually two.) We share a beer (or two,) and enjoy talking about our loves. He might snowboard... I don't know. I know I used to ski, but with 25 years of surfing, snowboarding seems so much more natural. Won't touch my skis anymore. Been using a helmet ever since a skier cut me off at the "slow zone" at Steamboat and I went backwards on my a**. I am leery about the ski racer guys, now. Made a bunch of friends at the terrain park. Cute girls, half my age, laughing with "dad" having fun. I know the rotorheads aren't so bad.

Of course, the fellow in the hangar next to me had a Beechcraft and was pretty strange. He never spoke much either. Never flew his V-tail much. Que lastima. (What a shame!) Glad he moved. Maybe a new Cirrus pilot will move in and we can have a Fat Tire (beer) and teach him the rules. I think the guy three hangars down grows pot in his hangar. Keeps it locked all of the time and doesn't let anyone in. I don't know if he snowboards. Maybe.

Now that was funny, great post Kelly - thanks.

Question for the Boarders;

Why is it that you guys are always sitting down (hangin out) in the middle of a run? Looks like a bunch of seals hangin on the beach. :bang:

I bought my kids skis, if they want to board it is on their dime.

I noticed that. Out of 10 boarders on a hill at any given time, 5 are sitting on their butt, 2 are riding and 3 are tumbling.

Hangar next to mine has a nice, newish (3 years) SR-20, 3-man partnership owns it. All nice guys, too.

One of 'em was came out to the 'drome to fly last Saturday, pulled the plane out and hopped in to go fly... and hopped right back out.

Dead battery.

I asked him where the battery was. He said, "I don't know." :D

So, I was down at Massey Ranch Airpark yesterday with my plane....

...guy in the next hangar was looking longingly at his Comanche as I approached to say "Hi".

"What'cha lookin' at?" I inquired.

"Do ya like this dress on her?" he queried with a really torn expression on his wrinkled face. He was holding up a beautiful pink chiffon masterpiece, just brushing it lightly fore and aft across the blade tip.

"Yeah...really nice. She'll be stunning..."

My voice tailed off as I looked a bit closer.

He began stroking the silk with his left hand, at the same time pushing the soft center of the piece more firmly against the Comanche blade tip.

Feeling like I was intruding, I began backing out of the hangar.

"Takin' her out again tonight?"

"Dunno. I'll see what kind of mood she's in later. Don't wanna go through all the effort if she's not gonna...well....you know."
.
I heard a deep sigh as I turned toward my hangar.

Those Comanche guys are a bit strange.
