Here's an article giving hope that the development of the Cirrus Jet program may get restarted.

http://www.aopa.org/aircraft/articles/2 ... c_sect=gan

January 1 price is listed at $1.72 million!

And right there, the case for that plane falls apart.

By the time they come to market, the number will have a 2 in front.

Agreed. It's too much money for a little tiny, plastic airplane.

I wouldn't get hung up on plastic or tiny. If the operating cost and range work, it could be a very good value for someone tho travels light and often. But again, the price is going to kill it.

7 seats, looks like the jetsons, does 300kts? In blue it would make grown men cry at the beauty. Well, me anyway.

How much are people paying for TBM850s? 2.8MM? The specs look similar to me.

Realistically, the Circus Jet will cruise more like 250-275KTAS, and rarely fly above FL280. Yes, it will be $2m+. If I had that much $$ to spend on a jet i'd buy a "real jet" like a 2 yr old Citation Mustang, or a 1990's CJ for under $1.5m, or a 3 yr old C90GT for about $2m.

But hey, give me a 3 or 4 yr old G58 instead for about $750k anyday. That's much better value than a Circus Jet IMHO.

Regards,

The TBM is built like a Beech. And it's proven.

I am sure both the Diamond and Cirrus Jet will be successful if they make it to market (and Diamond is progressing close to shedule). Airplanes and flying is a lot about feelings. And flying a Jet is… well nothing like flying those things with that big rotating thing up front. :D

And from a Jet point of view, single engine jets are cheap to operate.

I am working hard for this...

Baby Doll on one side of the beautiful white epoxied floor hangar, a Cirrus Jet in matching blue on the other. Mike and Dino are right, two V-tails, side by side, making the money sing to me. I will never have the privilege to touch any other naked woman besides my wife, but I can definitely be rubbing on those twins.

The performance is secondary to the image of success. If you can afford the real deal and fly a Mustang, more power to you. I am simply trying to get the jet level. D-Jet just doesn't do it for me.

It is a lot like the houses here in SoCal... $1,800,000 is nice, but $2,800,000 is nicer. Unfortunately, there is the difference in the monthly scratch that keeps me out of the nicer home. Not to mention the operational costs.

Yeah,

A lot can happen between now and 2012. That's forever.

The Cirrus jet was in Scottsdale today. It was on final over the highway right on top of me. All things aside it looked cool as hell. The big intake hump on the back looked mean. Not sure what they were doing but there was a go around involved.
