I just rec'd the most recent copy of Flying Adventures featuring an interview with Jack Pelton, CEO of Cessna aircraft. He says, "Expect additional models to be developed off the 400 platform". In the next sentence Pelton added, "I think a turbine single would be a nice fit. We just need to find a solution that has a business plan that makes sense."
It looks like Cessna has a new single turbine that may be in the works.

Cessna knows they need something new to compete against the Diamond Superstar wich will also pressurized.

Russ Then there's no point. Piperjet and Cirrus Jet will be under 2 million or right at it.

Same with Beech if they were to develop a single engine turboprop it would be between the 1.4 million Baron and the 4 million C90B. I agree. I was just looking at the DJet. On controller around $1.3Million. It's a nice plane. If Cessna a Beech both build single turbo props priced from TBM850 to Pilatus range then I think there'll be too many. But I'm ok with that.

The djet mock-up is very impressive. Interior comfort is terrific.

I still think a baby-turbined ... not a columbia anymore, what is it now? Cadwalader? Carpaggio? Codfish? -- would be an easy mod since they've got them flying now on the experimental side. Probably can offer it for just under 1MM, and people would go "ooh, nifty" Don't people assign more "cool points" to turbojets over turboprops? I can't see them doing a 2MM turboprop in the face of the piper/cirrus ventures, nor a large-cabin turboprop in the face of the TBM/Pilatus folks... it just doesn't seem their style. I agree. Have you seen the prices of some really nice F90 King Airs? 4K-5K TT and could probably be had for under $1 Million. I really think the Single Engine Turbo Prop sales are taking a bite out of Beech.

I love it too. I hope it come to fruition in my lifetime.
