Ok. My last post. I gotta go to work...

The one major headwind at VanNuys is that VNY and TEB are the busiest airports in the USA without commercial service and without a major training presence (Daytona and Falcon claim those spots)...

At VNY there is a lot of jets and demand.

I am fighting this fight at KMKE, where they put out an RFQ and RFP looking for a developer...and nobody applied. Yet, I'm still moving to a year to year lease.

Van Nuys falls under the Los Angeles World Airport authority. Over the years it has been stunted by that relationship and held back from any meaningful strategic planning that benefits the local airport community as opposed to being a step child of the LAX group think cabal. :pullhair:

I remember being based at Van Nuys and paying a reasonable sum for a long time...and then the prop park came. A gentleman offered to sell me his hangar...but the prop park had first right of refusal. No hangar for me. Prices went up exponentially.

Something similar happened at CRQ a few years back with Jet traffic.

With one of the LA County Supervisors reportedly strongly biased about having Whiteman Airport in Pacoima closed and bringing developers in as commissioners, all while no longer taking grants from the FAA, the plan is in motion - Whiteman has nearly 1000 aircraft that will be displaced...the County is simply waiting their 9 years to run out. I hope that's not the case.

We all know what happened at Santa Monica - though in my opinion and having been a tenant there, it's not what is out in the public.

Oceanside has had its pressures.

Hawthorne Airport was in the process of being shut down for a while - we went door to door to keep it open with what we called "The Termite Hangar Crew" - the old timers that were in the older wooden hangars on the north side. Eventually, Hawthorne Partners came in along with Advanced Air and a number of other businesses - and rents doubled and tripled. Now, Archer has bought off the lease from Hawthorne Partners - I'm not sure what will happen to propeller aviation at Hawthorne going forward.

Many FBO's clamor for support from the propeller public...right up until the jets become attractive and infinitely more lucrative, and then...no hangar space for propellers.

Difficult times...

Of the 6 RFP's that are up right now, 4 will remain the same.
5 which is mine and 6 which is Clay Lacy on the East side could/will change.
1 Condor Squadron
2 Skid Row North
3 Skid Row South
4 Paramount hangar which was previously part of Southwest Aviation
5 Southwest Aviation
6 Clay Lacy at Woodley & Saticoy
Some think Joby Aviation will take over my leasehold as they are getting kicked out of Hawthorne?

Of note the accelerated process started with the law suit from Heli-Net which will also stay the same at the end of Waterman Dr.
