They wanted aircraft from their unit's past... and we were happy to oblige.
Three hops to get there, and three hops to St George UT to store it for the winter. The jet flew flawlessly. Charlie Largay's restoration of this rare American warbird is really an exceptional story... both the history of the jet and his hard work to get it flying. That is so cool! In December I went to Madison to eat at the Jet Room and when I was landing, F-35s were doing T&Gs. I didn’t even know they transitioned so it was awesome to watch. Norman, those would make really cool roof top carriers for some cars….. just a suggestion.

The people at Western Sky museum told me there was a Super Tweet based on field, but I don't think I've ever seen you flying around. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for ya!

The jet really doesn't fly very much in the winter. Charlie is keeping it there so that Western Skies can have a very nice static display.
We had hoped to bring it to the Luke AFB Airshow, but that's not looking like an option now. When it heads out for a future show, I'll post the info here.
Thanks for the offer on the drop tanks... but I think Charlie has more than he will ever need already!

Flew a few flights Thursday. First flights in 9 months and the jet flew great. Added 2 more drop tanks, and ferried it to Idaho. Hoping to have it at Oshkosh Monday-Thursday morning.

I was at Bien Hoa about a month after Michael Blasie, the Viet Nam Unknown Soldier who was later identified by DNA analysis, was shot down in an A-37 of the 8th SOS.
Out of 3 or 4 rocket attacks, the only major loss was a fully fueled and loaded A-37 when the rocket came through a revetment opening. It burned until not much was left, but ordnance did not explode.
We also had turnaround for F-4's based in Thailand (my job), USMC A-4's, VNAF A-1's and VNAF F-5's (did not carry very much or go very far.)

I was one of the two A-37 pilots this weekend, and it was quite the experience! The A-37 Association ( http://www.A-37.org) had their final reunion in Vegas this past weekend, and they took a bus up to St George Utah to see the two A-37's this past Saturday. We had those guys sign the gun bay of both jets. I flew Hank Hoffman that morning. A USAF test pilot school grad, Hank had 205 combat missions in the A-37, and remembered the jet very well. He even caught a mistake that I made (thanks, Hank!). He said he hadn't flown formation in over 40 years, but he was right in there. This is one of the coolest things I've done in aviation and I am tremendously thankful to the owners of both jets for their trust and support. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. The jet I flew (87921) flew 2200 hours of combat time for the South Vietnamese Air Force. In April 1975, both jets (and about 70 others) were captured by the commies when the south was overrun. 87921 was then flown by the commies against the Khmer Rouge. The owner has photos of 87921 with communist crews. So much amazing history to this jet, and more than I want to type tonight. The other jet will soon be painted like 87921 since 87921 looks EXACTLY like it did in Da Nang in 1970, and they were both in the same squadron. On Monday, I flew 87921 to the Warhawk Museum in Nampa Idaho, where it should be on public display for the winter. The rocket pods and 250 lbs bombs are loaded back up too. Go check it out. The museum as a LOT of cool stuff. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQXbqpgk ... IwNjQ2YQ==Based on the fuel burn at cruise... I expect that the next time we fly, Greta Thunburg will show up and protest. Tap the photos to get them to show up in a higher resolution. No clue why the last photo is upside down, but when I tap on it, it turns back to up-right.

The upside down photo must have been taken in Australia.
