Welcome Reg! Fantanstic looking A36. How much time you got in her? I'm jealous! I want my helicopter rating too! What model helicopter did you get your rating in. So many of our members on BT want jets, speed, turbo's, rockets, etc., and thats good, especially for our country's economy. For me, the ultimate is to have my Baron and a Robinson R44 Raven II. Love the Carefree AZ area.

Hello, I am Buck Williams from Gainesville, Florida. My wife Anne and I own a 1979 A-36, N517RC. I retired from 21 years in the US Army in 1992 and had a career flying helicopters up through the Sikorsky CH-54B Skycrane, and airplanes including the C-12C commonly known as a Beech King Air 200. Have been an aviation claims adjuster since the mid 1990's, and this year decided to share some of my experience in aviation safety by becoming a flight instructor. From January to March this year I earned the ground instructor ratings, CFI, CFII, MEI, and ATP single Engine. I continue to investigate general aviation accidents, belong to the Orlando FAASteam, and give advanced instruction in my Bonanza. I gave a presentation on aviation safety at the recent ABS Convention in Salt Lake City. I am a stickler on using the check list, as many accidents are a result of Not doing the Same Thing, The Same Way, Every Time.
Our Bonanza has the Colemill Starfire conversion which includes the Hartzell 4-blade prop and the IO-550B engine. We had GAMI's and a JPI 800 installed and I attended the engine management course in Ada, OK. Run LOP all the time, and typically fly between 7000 to 11,000' MSL here on the east coast. I typically fly it about 200 hours per year. Have been to Maine, Oshkosh, conventions in Lexington and Salt Lake, and many places in between.
Avionics consists of a GNS-530 WAAS, coupled to an Stec-50 AP with GPSS steering. Great instrument platform. Second NavCom is an SL-30. Backup GPS is a 496 panel mounted in an Airgizmo. Has a Storm scope and Horizon electric tach.
If you come near central Florida, drop by GNV and visit. Always love to look at other's Bonanza's and Barons and share experiences.

Stuart You'll enjoy the upgrade. The Aspen brings all the info that you ordinarily are looking at multiple gauges right in front of you.
I'm still having some issues integrating the 430w and Aspen with my aging Century III autopilot. Everything works great on the gps approaches, including the gpss steering, but the autopilot still has some quirks when I'm on an ILS approach in LOC Norm on the autopilot.
