Steve,

Nice airplane! We got a chance to see it at Paul's when I picked mine up a couple weeks ago. Congratulations!

Hi
My name is Roger Lyon and I have a 1973 A36 purchased last December and which is the first plane I have owned. It is based in San Luis Obispo, CA (KSBP). I'm fairly new to flying--got my private license 5 years ago and instrument rating a year ago. I've been having way to much fun with the Bonanza with over 260 hours in less than a year. I did the BPPP school in Tucson in January and the Service Clinic in Santa Maria in May, both great programs.

The plane has a 550B factory new engine that was put in in 2004 and now has about 420 hours on it. I did a panel upgrade in May-- Aspen 1000 pfd, Garmin 430W, Garmin 327 and PMA 8000.

I love travelling in Mexico--5 trips since January, most recently last weekend on a flying Sams trip to San Quintin.

Life is good!

Steve had me go through the airplane in a fairly comprehensive manner.

The annual inspection was one part of that. Rigging was another.

Thank you very much Paul! You did a great job for me.

Here are some pictures taken yesterday in the new home of N6670Z

I will have some more after she gets a bath and the sun comes out again.

Steve,

Congratulations!

You will be worthless at work or home for a while 'cause you're gonna hang out at the airport and love on that airplane.

'Quite a change from the Sundowner to the A36. You and your family will really enjoy the difference in speed, comfort and loading capability.

Now, come on down to Knoxville. We'll sit on the porch enjoyin' a bottle of Tennessee whiskey while we're spittin' and whittlin' and talkin' 'bout flyin' that bird.

Thanks Max,

It's a date . . . I've got a lot of hours to fly off and once I get the high performance/complex endorsement, I might as well burn up some of the time in cross country flying, eh.

As one who wrenches on these things for a living, Steve's airplane is just about perfect to me, in many ways....

Late 70's A36 with a N/A 550, BDS baffles, gap seals, 3-blade, tip tanks. Great useful load. No increase in maintenance complexity. Very reliable airframe and systems. Fast.

I like it simple. Wish I had one. <sigh>

Oh well, my present airplane is all I need, really..... :whiteflag:

Steve,

Very nice, you are going to love it. I also went from a 'baby beech' to a 36.

I have to admit, I am bit envious, as I remember all the fun memories when I first made the change.

Thanks to BT and people like Paul, you are 'miles' ;) ahead of where I started out.

Had I known of Paul and BT back in the day, I would have saved countless dollars and endless frustrations.

Nice Work!

Thanks for the photos.

Great family pics... the times you have with the fam are most very excellent!

I don't think I have ever before seen an MX20 driven by a KLN-94. Dogs and cats, sleeping together!

Roger,

Welcome to BeechTalk!

I wish I was close to Mexico. I would love to explore the Baja Peninsula. From what I've read it is really a nice place. I'm just not up on flying into a foreign country and dealing with all the red tape that is involved. 'Looks like you have learned how to navigate through all of that.

Learn how to post big pictures and share some of your "South of the Border" adventures.

Again, welcome, and fly safely.

Max,
I need to take you up on the hanging out knoxville thing. I'm always up there covering cases(I was there yesterday) at UT medical and the only thing I do is go up 129 to the top of the Dragon and wish I had brought my bike. I'll buy the avfuel and the whiskey afterward...
