To avoid confusion, the operating voltage of the Garmin navigator using one of these GPS antennas makes no difference to the antenna.

The antenna is an "active" antenna with an amplifier built into it, somewhere under that white dome. Power for the amplifier is provided by the navigator itself and is fed up the coax cable with the centre pin being "hot" and the shield being "ground". This power is neither 12V nor 24V aircraft power but rather it's very clean, precisely regulated power provided from within the GPS navigator.

My daughter helps me post these items and doesn't know as much info about the parts. Thanks for clearing that up!
