I'm interested in doing this on my C55. Does anyone have any experience on what kind of project this is? Is it worth doing? We are slowing upgrading this baron over the next few years. Interior this year. Paint possibly the next, then avionics.

Scott It’s a fair amount of work on a C55 or any other Baron not factory equipped with blade nav antennas. An opening needs to made on the vertical stabilizer for access and installation of the doublers. Then you have the long cable run up to the avionics panel. All takes time but any good metal A&P could be trusted with the job. Less hassle but not as cosmetically desirable is to mount them on the aft fuselage under the horizontal stabilizers.

Thanks Sven,
I'll def dive deeper into it with my A&P.

Hi Scott,
I can’t send you a private message for some reason. Does this come with an 8130?

"Depends", seems like a fair answer. I had the cat whiskers on my K35, so the cable was already back there. Just bucked some rivets for the doubler with my A&P and put the blades on (that was after a fair amount of reading and measuring the location & angle). Still, with the cable back there already, it was pretty easy as far as upgrades go.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your setup or the rules about mounting it. I did a lot of research and there was a kit that had to be installed to support the weight and aerodynamic "load" of the blade antennas. Again, I could be way off.
