I misidentified the burned through flaps earlier. The worst damage was to the forward flaps. The rear ones took too much heat as well, but the front ones were significantly worse. Moving the forward flaps may address that issue, but the rear are still getting burned up too. Somehow they are going to need to reduce the heat on those surfaces.

The V3 just looks like a finished product to me; simple and elegant.
Well said. A beautiful creation.

I don’t ever want to hear a thing about Elon’s “lies” or broken promises ever again. As they say, this guy makes impossible merely late.

I'm sure they will solve the problem. Disposable flaps? Different configuration? Different material? Different combination of materials? Different junction fairing?

Rapid iteration kicks careful planning's ass.

Blue origin has spent billions on what is rapidly becoming irrelevant.

I was there, the sound was awesome!.
No recording can do it justince.
The video visuals are better than in person, the sound is just not capturable.

if the sound is more impressive in person, then, that's.......impressive. From the sounds on videos, it sounds like it would just beat at your chest like a rabid drummer.

When I went to Shuttle STS-132 it was also the sound that most impressed me.
It literally rattled my clothes. I could feel my pants shaking.

A whole body experience.

What about the sonic boom on reentry? Can you compare it to Falcon 9? Obviously much louder, but I’m wondering how much. Ultimately they’re going to be doing this multiple times er day. Are the neighbors going to have a problem?

I live on the flight path from Eglin AFB to the gulf training area

We get many sonic booms a day, it’s normal to us

I've not heard a F9 reentry, I have heard a shuttle reentry.

The boom was much sharper than the shuttle boom.
It was a single sharp boom.

The engine noise on both liftoff and landing was much more noticeable.

The engine noise was also very different than the shuttle.
I got to see the shuttle liftoff from the VIP viewing area on the last night mission.
STS-130 in 2010.

The constructive/destructive phase change of the shuttle two big solids seemed to make some really strong low frequencies.

The 33 raptors on take off had none of that, just a loud crackling roar.

I may switch from trying to get good video (I suck at this) to making an attempt at recording hi fidelity audio of a launch.

The following is a Twitter exchange about the videography with a friend of mine. (I'm unrocket read the whole thread)
