Ugh, PPG is a pox on the entire aviation industry, from Boeing through Embarer to Piaggio. :(
Only part I ever really struggled for.

Are yours delaminated to the point where the heater doesn't work, or are they still serviceable? Or do they have some other problem?

Ed

It looks like I will be installing a steel brake kit on my plane and removing carbon during current maintenance.

I've got 4 main wheels for carbon. Two installed on the plane and two overhauled with EASA form 1. I will have an offer from the shop to buy them back, but if anyone is interested, please message me. I also have one brake installed on the plane that I want to sell. This is an EASA registered plane.

Hello Tomasz - Would you be willing to share your decision making process and thoughts on advantages/disadvantages? There has been some recent talk on changeouts - I’d like to better understand. Thanks - Matt

The decision is to buy an overhauled carbon brake for 85k eur or a steel kit (two wheels and two brakes) for the same price, and sell the carbon parts I have remaining (four wheels and one brake).

The cost of a carbon ceramic replacement is now $86k plus exchange. Steel kit with two wheels, brakes and related hardware is $91k through ICJS and they are getting ready to place an order for delivery after first of the year. 20% deposit required. I've placed my order.

Hmmm. Wonder how long the wait will be? Did you have to trade in your carbon brakes to get this? Wonder how much the salvage value of the carbon ones might be....

Just a heads up that we will be attending NBAA if anyone here is also going and wants to talk about the Piaggio market etc. Our IADA/Aircraft Exchange Booth # is 3001. My mobile is: (303)517-4822. Currently the 3 airframes we have advertised (1039/1056/1121) are all deal pending.

Hope to say hello in person at some point!

Likewise. I hate anything that adds weight, but it does seem to offer simplicity, longer life, and ultimately lower present value costs.

Tomorrow will not be a good day for the P180. Collins has no ADC's available.

 Thanks for the heads-up Steve.

Of note for several of us who operate Avanti I airplanes, it only applies to the Avanti II and Evo, i.e. Proline 21 airplanes.

(c) Applicability

This AD applies to Piaggio Aero Industries S.p.A. Model P-180 airplanes, serial number (S/N) 1002 and S/Ns 1105 through 3010 inclusive, certificated in any category.

It also looks like they are giving 24 months or 660 hours to comply. Maybe Collins can get their act together by then.
