I have built, flown and sold two homebuilts, and after that I tried to quit. However building is something of an addiction so I am thinking of starting a third project, an Airbike ultralight. Has anyone flown one of these? They look like they would be fun. Are there any weaknesses in the design?

Have not flown but somewhat familiar with the design. Early (if not outright) Wayne Ison design if I recall correctly. The Legal Eagle may be better known and more airplane for same construction costs. Eagle will be more “GA” design standard while the air bike leans slightly more toward ultralight. May be a good materials start for either on Barnstormers: “ LEGLE EAGLE MATERIALS + PLANS • $2,000 • FOR BEST OFFER • Aluminum and steel tubing and plans for building the Legal Eagle. Tail sections are completed. • Contact Dan Rondeau , Owner - located Sheboygan, WI 53083 United States • Telephone: ---------- • Posted August 3, 202“
I have no affiliation with this seller.

Thanks for that info, I am less than an hour away from Sheboygan and I might save shipping and perhaps more by buying materials from this guy.

And you don’t even get seat belts. You would need good grip strength if you rolled it.

Hi George,

Looking to potentially build one as well. I can't help you with the flight characteristics of the Airbike not having flown one yet. I did receive two set of plans from Jordan Aero three weeks ago (for the single Airbike and for the Tandem Airbike). The build looks straight forward. I understand that the welded fuselage can be ordered from Jordan if needed. Leadtime quoted was about 3-4 months.

If you have not come across it yet, there is a guy out there on youtube (Dagtheaviator) that has done a pretty good job documenting his Airbike build, including modeling the wing in Fusion360.

Sebastien

Here's the link to the build videos that I was referring to:

Still not answering your question about how it flies! :D

So far I have watched the video where he fabricates the fuselage. The welding jig he made is pretty neat, I am going to copy that.

I got the plans in the mail yesterday.
