Nice plane, GLWS. Is the engine time/date correct? 1,220 SMOH in 12/2022 That’s a lot of flying if so.

To clarify…it had 1268smoh in 1998, or 1268 since o/h in 1998? Nice K model but either way not far away from a $60k + O/H….ah re-read your correction. 1268 since O/H in 1998…that makes it 25 years since O/H…

Im NOT scared of a 25 Y/O OVH that has flown “Enough” per year to keep the rust and corrosion at bay. Especially if compressions are good and there are no oil leaks.
Biggest question is was the “OTHER” MX done? (Hoses/Fuel Pumps/Injectors/Spyder/Exhaust/Baffle Seals/Flex Lines)?
Nope I’m not worried about an “OLD” OVHL.
Just an OLD Airplane with no “MX”!!
This one LOOKS NICE!!!
I have owned THREE 57 H models. One with a 260 HP upgrade, and TWO with the 250 HP 470-C Fuel Injection Mod.
They ALL had “Every Speed Mod”. But NONE of them had tip tanks. Also working on several for Rocky Roquemore, I have one thing that was pretty persistent.
160 KTAS at 8-10K Feet on 13.7 GPH.
4 airplanes with the same motor, and THOUSANDS of hours in them over the last 40 years can NOT be wrong!!!

Username Protected wrote: Those compressions though. Nothing at all overly concerning about those compression numbers. Do a hot compression test during pre-buy and listen, especially the exhaust. Verify oil consumption and look for oil on the belly (from rings or old worn dipstick gasket) Boroscope the cylinders. Look at the cylinder walls and exhaust valves. Rope trick and clean exhaust valves / seats if necessary. Consider a jug overhaul or replace if ring compression or burnt valves beyond on engine repair. These are standard maint checks for continentals that pilots should become familiar with. Easy Peezy.
