It is a very different social construct when one considers that military and police control of the population of China is a valid and accepted use of this kind of hardware.

Speaking of hardware, what engine does this thing use? How close a copy of a Rotax 912 engine is it?

One of my buddies has 30,000 rotary hours. About 27,000 in helicopters and 3,000 in gyros. I think 90% of his unplanned/forced landings and emergencies have been in the gyros. Mind you, several of those were engine related so a Rotax 914 might have prevented a few of those.

Me too. Other than engine failure or “I’m getting cold”, I can’t think of a reason that wouldn’t involve a plummet to the ground.

Several of them were engine related due to the experimental nature of what he was flying. One of them I seem to recall he woke up in a snow bank.

Not my stories to tell so I'm not sure I can/should share them. Next time I see him (might not be until next spring) I will ask if I can share a few here.
