I passed on a very nice, off-market Cub today with an 0-200 engine. Really hated walking away, but the Cub was just too cramped for me and my flying buddy. I didn't remember how tight it was in the front seat. Of course, that was 45 years and 30 lbs ago. How do the interior dimensions compare with your SC? Thanks.

Most people would tell you the PA-18 is wider by a few inches, but that isn’t true. The J3 and super cub are actually the same physical width. For the most part they are the same fuselage. They actually use the same jig for both models. However, he PA-18 feels much different and much more roomy as you don’t have the spar carry through over head as you do on the J3 and you solo the PA-18 out of the front seat so most say (and I agree) that the PA-18 feels completely different. Before buying this I passed on a nice PA-11. Even though you solo the PA-11 out of the front (or rear) it still felt cramped compared to the super cub. Just a complete different feel in the front seat without the spar overhead. And the front is way more roomy then the back of a J3.

yeah I think it's the front seat position in the PA18 that makes the most difference regardless of width. In a J-3 or PA11/12 I feel like I'm holding the stick up in my chest in the front seat Username Protected wrote: Most people would tell you the PA-18 is wider by a few inches, but that isn’t true. Thanks for the replies. I need to find someone local with a SC so I can sit in it. Hoping to avoid spending the extra cash on a CC Sport Cub, which I understand is a bit roomier. Anyone have any comments on an older Husky? My hangar is empty and yearning for another airplane. Thanks again.

Thanks again. don't forget about homebuilt supercub clones, a lot (most) of them are built with extra-wide fuselages
