I've attached the application form. I also sent in a maintenance status report (CESCOM). Textron will not publish criteria for the LUMP, they do it at their whim, but a mostly stock airplane well cared for is pretty much always going to be approved. The only thing they clearly said no to was an FJ44 converted airplane, though there are reports at least one such airplane got a LUMP. They also don't offer this for the 525 series. Mike C.

Hey Mike can you send me a link for the LUMP contact at Textron? I just purchased an S-II (finally after a year of looking and trying) and I want to begin the process. Thanks! Mark dmark22@mac.com

I dealt with: "Taylor, Stephen" <SATaylor@txtav.com> This was Dec 2020, so 2.5 years ago. If that doesn't work, send email to teamlegacy@txtav.com and they will find the right contact for who handles LUMP presently. Mike C.

The contact for my LUMP was Nicholas Paulsen npaulsen@txtav.com. So what's the story on the S-II? I thought you have found a good one but then pulled he trigger on a Mustang.

Are there any Piaggio Avanti 1s available for sale other than controller? Seems like pretty slim pickings.

There were 14 on Controller when I bought mine. You have to dig. I'd call Bryon Mobley at Wetzel Aviation he may know of something coming or off market. He's here on BT too. I'd check with Dean McKenzie at Intercontinental Jets in Tulsa. He may know of something. Maybe one of these isn't on Controller. I didn't bother to look: https://www.avbuyer.com/aircraft/turbop ... -avanti-iiMaybe something else here, I didn't bother to check closely: https://www.globalplanesearch.com/searc ... gio+avantiThis is an airplane that you have to do your homework on. There aren't many. Some have been on the market forever and aren't really for sale. Some are for sale but not listed. It's a great aircraft that was not made in big numbers. And owners know what they have by and large and know they can't replace the capability for anywhere near the capex or opex.

Thanks Tony. I spoke to both of them and also have made a couple other calls, but haven't come up with many options. To your point, I heard one of the listed airplanes is only for sale to please the owner's wife, the price is not realistic. Thanks for all the suggestions.
Can you tell me what your full fuel useful load is or what would be typical of an Avanti II? Also, will you continue to enroll in CASP or drop it once you have a level of comfort?
Thanks, Steve

I like how they sound. One just flew over my house, landing at SRQ. Distinctive, but very nice.

Speaking of Atlanta...flew from Columbus to Sarasota Saturday. Here's a bit of a long but I think unique story... Second Atlanta center controller pipes up...conversation goes something like this... "N130EM?" (Controller). "N130EM here" (Me) "How are you doing?" "I'm doing great, how about you?" "I'm good - how are things going up there". "Smooth & clear..." "Well, Columbus Tower called about you" (Uh oh...I don't remember anything eventful) "Seems they had a report about some strange sounds from your engines at takeoff" "Huh, well everything looks good up here now" (Pull headset off and listen) "And everyhign sounds OK now" "So everything is OK?" "Yep, all good so far" I ponder for a minute and ask Atlanta for a number to call Columbus Tower once on ground. I do call the Columbus FBO line crew using the Garmin GSR "Hear me take off?" "Yep" "Hear anything unusual?" "Well, wasn't really paying attention, but no, nothing that we can remember -why?" Two sectors later "N130EM - everything OK up there" "Sure" "We heard about the reports of your engine issues and just wanted to check in on you". Well, aw shucks, this is great service and caring.. Call the landing FBO, explain report, and ask if they can have experienced line personnel present on shutdown just to listen for anything out of the ordinary. "Sure". Just before shutdown do a mild run-up on each engine separately. Ask line crew if they heard anything funny - just got blank looks - OK, that message didn't get forwarded. Call Columbus tower, Turns out they got a call from airport neighbor about 15 minutes after I left, reports of a business jet (grin). taking off that just didn't sound right - funny engine noises. They went back through the tapes and thought I was the only aircraft that matched time/location. I said "well, this plane has a rep with a funny sound - maybe like a chainsaw". Tower "come to think of it, that's exactly how he described it..." It's been a few years, but at Christmas time have taken boxes of cookies to tower/approach controllers and toured facility. Will have to do that again this year, and play them some YouTube videos of Avanti depatures so they know what "strange" sounds like..

Username Protected wrote: Steve, While Tony is having le dîner in countryside of France I’ll chime in.
My II empty weight is 8248 so full fuel useful load around 1100lbs.
On CASP, I still have it for now. Long term my gut says not worth it. Deciding factor for me at the moment is expecting a quicker turn around if I have a part under CASP go out vs non insured.
Edit. Corrected for me small brain temporarily thinking total useful load was 12,500 pounds not 12,100. LOL. Steve, My BEW is 8071.80. Gross weight is 12,100. Full fuel load is 2802. So, full fuel useful is 1,226.2. I have CASP but have moved to the cheapest level -there are three - and IIRC its about $8k after discount from ICJS.
